PETROS NOMIKOS CONFERENCE CENTRE

The Thera Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 1969 by Peter M. Nomikos, supports Santorini’s cultural, social, and scientific development, with Peter C. Nomikos Jr. leading new initiatives since 2005.

The P. Nomikos Conference Centre, inaugurated in 1989, hosts events and conferences aimed at promoting Santorini and supporting the Akrotiri excavations. Located in Fira, overlooking the Caldera and the volcano, its main hall accommodates up to 220 guests. The venue is busiest from April to October.

Akrotiri Wall Paintings & Santozeum

The Akrotiri wall paintings, discovered during Professor Spyridon Marinatos’ excavations (1967-1974), provide crucial insight into Aegean art and society. The Thera Foundation, in collaboration with The Getty and Kodak Pathé, has made these frescoes widely accessible for study. Since 2011, they have been displayed at Santozeum, a creative space merging art, humanities, and science.

Founded in 2010, Santozeum offers an artist residency program, fostering global connections while providing an inspiring setting for creative dialogue. Perched on Santorini’s cliffs, its renovated 1950s building blends private and public spaces, offering breathtaking Caldera views.
