Located just 1 km from Fira, in Kontochori, the Folk Art Museum was founded by Emmanuel Ant. Lignos, a lawyer, journalist, and editor of Theraic News. Housed in a historic 1861 building, the museum recreates the traditional Santorinian home, preserving the island’s cultural heritage with remarkable attention to detail.
Visitors can explore a rock-hewn underground house, an old winery (kánava), and a cave from a historic pumice mine. The museum also features traditional workshops, including those of a carpenter, barrel-maker, and shoemaker, all equipped with original tools.
The beautiful flower-filled courtyards provide a peaceful setting to relax, while the chapel of Agios Konstantinos and an art gallery showcasing Santorini-inspired paintings offer additional cultural experiences.
