Akrotiri

At the southwestern edge of Santorini, the village of Akrotiri is a must-see destination for archaeology and history lovers, boasting one of the most significant Bronze Age Cycladic cities. The prehistoric town of Akrotiri was destroyed but at the same time preserved by a cataclysmic eruption. It is considered as one of the most important archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. A must is also the Venetian castle of Akrotiri and the volcanic scenery of the nearby Red Beach.
